Frequently Asked Questions

When is HEAP?

     HEAP will take place June 2nd-June 12th for session 1 and June 16th-June 26th for session 2.  HEAP days are Monday - Thursday only.  There will be ONE Friday class on June 22nd.

     HEAP times are 8 am - 12 pm.  Pick up must be done no later than 12:30 pm.

Where is HEAP located?

     HEAP will take place at Mance Park Middle School.  All HEAP participants can be dropped off in front of MPMS.

How much is HEAP?

     HEAP is $50 per session, per child. Session 1 needs to be paid on or before May 28th and Session 2 needs to be on or before June 5th.

How do I pay?

     You can drop payment off at the front office of Mance Park Middle School.

Do you have to be an HISD student to participate in HEAP?

     No, HEAP is open to all students ages 6-13.  If someone is here for the summer and they want to participate, they can as long as       they are registered.

​How does HEAP work?

     HEAP is a very structured program that runs similar to a school day.  Teachers escort kids to classes.  Participants are always             monitored by adults during the entire morning while they are participating in their activities.

What about breakfast and lunch?

     HISD offers free breakfast and lunch to school-aged children only.  

     Any HEAP participant can eat if they choose or bring their own lunch.

     

Is transportation provided?

     No, participants must provide their own transportation.  

​

How big are the classes?  

     Class sizes are limited and are first come first serve with registration.

     Some classes may be bigger depending on the activity.  

     Classes max out at 16-20.
